Are Single-Sex More Effective than Coed Schools?

There are some wonderful single gender schools out there. Often they are private (and sometimes quite expensive), and more recently an increasing number of them are public charter schools. The public is drawn to the allure of single gender schools – the allure of what education for the elite looked like a century ago. Are they better than coed? Truth be told, too many are of these single gender schools are average or well below average in academic performance. Research suggests that single-sex education may be an allure to the public, but that they do not educate girls and boys any better than coed schools.
